Maintaining Homeostasis in Living Organisms
Macromolecules
The major macromolecules are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. Carbohydrates are sugars, ;ipids are fat and oils, proteins are amino acids and nucleic acids are DNA and RNA. Water plus macromolecules equals cells. Water is needed to maintain homeostasis. Cells are made out of water.
Cell Structure and Function
The cell membrane is the most responsible for maintaining cell homeostasis is the cell membrane. The cell membrane is a thin, flexible barrier that protects the cell. It also is selectively permeable, meaning it only lets certain things in and out of the cell. This is the main way the cell membrane contributes to homeostasis.
Hierarchy of Biological Organization
Any self-regulating process by which biological systems tend to maintain stability while adjusting to conditions that are optimal for survival. If homeostasis is successful, life continues; if unsuccessful, disaster or death ensues.
Cell Membrane and Cell Membrane Transport
Cell membranes enable organisms to maintain homeostasis by regulating the materials that may enter or leave a cell. Some materials easily cross the cell membrane without the input of energy; other materials require energy input in order to cross through the cell membrane.
Negative Feedback and Positive Feedback Mechanisms
Homeostasis typically involves negative feedback loops that counteract changes of various properties from their target values, known as set points. In contrast to negative feedback loops, positive feedback loops amplify their initiating stimuli, in other words, they move the system away from its starting state.
Written Reflection
What inspired me to use the format Im using is that I was already working on my own personal website on Neocities and I also already had a Neocities website for my school projects. The Challenges I encountered on working on the project was finding the time to do it because I was busy over the weekend and afternoons. I will assess my my proformence in this project by trying by best on finding resources to finish it.
