Multi-Genre Project

Introduction

I am Daniel Villegas, son of Josue Villegas and Glenda Guevara. My little sister, Uncle Levi and Grandma. We are Salvadoran and live in a small town called Langley Park in Maryland. I am also a son of immigrants.

Stuff that I like

I like listening to Russian Post-Punk and being on my own world. That's why you always see me with headphones on. My favorite band has got to be Corn wave, A Ukrainian band. Other bands and artists that I listen to is Buerak, Nurnberg Other than listening to music, I like to collect trading cards and play old games on my computer. Old games like Postal 2 and Garry's Mod because my home computer is somewhat old, I draw stuff as well. Both digitaly on my phone and traditional on my sketchbook.

Here's one of my drawings I made around 2 weeks ago.

History

My grandma came to this country in 1995 but got deported later on. That didn't stop her from returning in 1998 though. She settled down in Washington D.C. While she was there, she befriended an Ethiopian lady named Carolina who taught her English, which explains my grandmas heavy accent when speaking English, worked in a small store in Chinatown and helped my parents come to Washington D.C. My dad came around the early 2000s and got a work permit to work as a construction worker. My mom came to the US in 2007 and worked in a McDonalds in Chinatown until the early 2010s and got a job as a janitor for a private catholic school in Wheaton. My uncle works as a carpenter in Bethesda. I was born in September 20, 2007 and my little sister was born in September 16, 2011.

Community

I live in a quiet community of Campus Gardens, nothing much of a community to be seen there. Stray cats litter the apartment complex and small children chasing each other with sticks. The staff drops off a goodie bag full of candy to our houses when it's our birthday. Preferably better than most apartments near this place. My downstairs neighbors are the loudest people I've seen. Imagine yourself trying to sleep at night to be awoken by the vibrations of a concert entierly located below your room. It isn't all that bad. That's just the community that surrounds my living space.

Culture

Salvadorans eat pupusias, the country's national dish. The pupusia orginated from El Salvador. Many Salvadorans fleed their home country because of the civil war that was going on in the 80s. They brought their culture with them as well.

Notes Collected

My dad wanted to go enlist in the milliary but was scared of the idea of fighting in Iraq. My grandma worked in a small shop in Chinatown.

Here are some old photos of family and friends from 1998 to around 2009.

Letter to the reader

Thank God school Chromebooks are nearly indestructable because I lost all my progress in the morning and started hitting it with the force of a silverback gorila. Before studing my family history, I didn't know my dad was concidering joining the millitary. Had to go through my grandma's closet to find these old kodak pictures. While looking through the old photo albums that my grandma has, my grandma and dad entered the room to look though them aswell. They started talking about times past. Most of the photos were baby pictures of me or kids that are in my family that I don't know about and other friends and family that I don't know about.
